A hidden archive becomes a book

Curvebender has published a three-volume set, George Martin: The Scores, collecting dozens of Sir George Martin’s handwritten arrangements. Compiled by Brian Kehew and K.L. Ryan with a foreword by Paul McCartney and overseen by Giles Martin, the volumes include scores for “A Day in the Life,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” “Something,” “Eleanor Rigby” and more — many seen publicly for the first time. Kehew and Ryan found the manuscripts tucked in a wooden chest and scattered about Martin’s home, evidence of a producer who saved work without fuss.
