Family of champions

Raised in Gainesville, Fla., Emma grew up in a tennis household. Their dad, Bryan Shelton, is a former pro and college coach; mom Lisa also played. Emma starred at Buchholz High, earned Gainesville Sun Player of the Year honors three times and was a top under-18 in Florida.

College career

Emma signed with South Carolina in 2018, later transferring to the University of Florida. She collected singles and doubles titles and reached No. 84 in the ITA singles rankings in 2021. Coaches praised her leadership and work ethic during her Gators tenure.
