Tragedy struck the west coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands when a powerful wave swept four individuals into the ocean, resulting in their deaths and leaving another person unaccounted for. Earlier reports had initially confirmed three fatalities.

The incident unfolded shortly after 4 PM at one of the popular natural pools near Los Gigantes in Santiago del Teide, where numerous visitors were gathered on the rocks and in the water. Suddenly, a massive wave crashed down with tremendous force, pulling many into the depths below. According to the Canarian emergency services, several individuals were swept away by the tumultuous waters. Reports indicate that among those affected were foreign tourists.

A rescue helicopter managed to retrieve one person alive but unfortunately recovered another lifeless from the water.
